Our Salton Sea
Our Salton Sea is an effort to examine how to diversify the economy around the Salton Sea so that the thousands of people who call the rural, desert region home have greater opportunities to work towards stable, healthy lives. Begun in 2021 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Our Salton Sea partners recognize that a comprehensive plan is needed in order for the Salton Sea region to fully recover from the pandemic and build resilience against future catastrophe.
Our Salton Sea has reviewed relevant academic research and gathered insights from a range of community stakeholders in order to formalize an approach to regional economic development that creates jobs, addresses environmental issues, and improves the quality of life for those living close to the sea.
